The report “VIET NAM TWO YEARS IN WTO"

It is nearly two years since Vietnam became a member of the world trade organization (WTO). In addition to impacts on investment, labor, science and technology, etc, influences on trade are usually of top concerns because of direct and quick impact of trade policies, especially tariff ones on trade.

WTO membership is anticipated to help Vietnam’s commodities expand markets and increase export values and volume, thanks to the fact that they are now enjoying an equal treatment like domestic products in the market of WTO members. On the other hand, Vietnamese products and services’ competition with those from these countries in the home ground is inevitable as Vietnam has to implement commitments to lifting tariff and non-tariff barriers under WTO roadmap.

Influences of WTO accession on Vietnam’s export of different products vary by commodity and by market. Similarly, the removal of tariff and non-tariff barriers also has various effects on the import of different goods by commodity and by market.

So, how did Vietnam agricultural trade go on over nearly 2 years after its WTO entry by commodity and by market, in fact? Whether or not did WTO commitments implementation produce many effects on this country’s agricultural products trade? How could influences of implementing WTO commitments be explained in relation with other trade agreements in which Vietnam played the role of a partner (CEPT, ACFTA)?etc.

The report “Vietnam agricultural trade within 2 years after WTO accession” will help policy makers, enterprises, and researchers to find answers to those above questions.
