Vietnam food market weekly 17.08 - 23.08.2009: THE POWER FOR MEAT PRODUCTS LOW DROP FURTHER
26 | 08 | 2009
At present, consumers are facing pressure from many sides: bad-quality imported meat is widespread in the market, even sold in large supermarkets; infected cattle are illegally slaughtered and then transported for consumption while H1N1 has not been put under control.

All these factors are giving consumers a reason to concern about meat products. This is making purchasing power for meat products in the past month which has already been low drop further, thereby putting pressure on livestock products . Therefore, prices of livestock and meat products in the market temporarily will not fluctuate strongly.

According to statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, herbivorous animal husbandry is developing relatively stably, especially for cows because beef prices are high and cow raising is earning profits. This will help beef supply be more stable; beef prices will not fluctuate strongly until the purchasing power of the market recovers.
