Total retail sales and service revenue in the first four months of this year was VND218,939 billion, up 22.5 percent, and the consumer price index (CPI) increased 3.52 percent compared with 3 percent in the first four months of last year
The CPI in April of this year in particular climbed 0.49 percent from the previous month, says the Ministry of Trade.Experts say the price of goods and services will continue to go up in the second quarter of this year given sudden weather changes, floods, pandemics in cattle, poultry and crops, the high demand for goods and service during the holidays and the possible increase in the world price. However, the CPI will probably not change drastically since tough measures are to be taken to prevent pandemics and control the market.
The Ministry of Trade predicts that the CPI will increase 0.5 percent in May of this year.
