New regulation for promoting fishing activities

Policies for promoting fishing activities will be carried out on a trial basis in central and southwestern coastal provinces until 2008, said Deputy Fisheries Minister Luong Le Phuong.
Addressing the conference for devising those policies in Ha Noi on Jan. 31, Deputy Minister Phuong said these policies will not only help ministries, departments and localities expand their supervision of fishing activities but will also support coastal provinces boost their sea-born production activities. These policies, whose results should be reviewed and reported to the Prime Minister next year, will also help ensure the sustainable development of fishing activities in Viet Nam's islands and coastal areas, he added.
