During the week, the domestic rice prices were stable. In Can Tho, the rice prices kept at 5,600 dong/kg, the ordinary paddy prices were 3350 dong/kg. However, in Binh Duong, the ordinary rice prices increased 100 dong/kg, reaching 5,800 dong/kg, the ordinary paddy also increased 200 dong/kg, reaching 4,250 dong/kg.
From the beginning of November 2007, the rice prices in the Mekong River Delta continued to increase because of impact of world rice market, flood calamity in the Center Highland and mostly the Mekong River Delta is between-crop period. Rice export this year is very optimistic. For the first time, the prices of Vietnam 25% broken rice exceeded 300 USD/ton, equally Thai rice prices. The average rice export prices reached 295 USD/ton, an increase of 41 USD/ton compared to 2006. The rice export prices are high and the export market is favorable. However, during the months of year-end, many export enterprises met with difficulties because of lack of raw rice.
5% broken rice was priced 337,5 USD/ton, a 2 USD/ton increase compared to the previous week. 10% and 15% broken rice increased in turn 3 USD/ton and 4 USD/ton, reaching 325,5 USD/ton and 317,5 USD/ton. It is forecast that Vietnam’s rice prices will be at high level in 2008. 25% broken rice prices will be over 320 USD/ton, and 5% broken rice will keep at over 340 USD/ton.
