VIETNAM'S WOOD SECTOR IN QUARTER 3/2009
In 2009, world wood industry had to face depression of market due to economic crisis. Decreasing demand led to a reduction of global wood industry. In the first 4 months of 2009, Vietnam’s wood industry was in the same trend but since May, signals of recovery appeared gradually.
Vietnam’s wood industry and outlook for 2009-2010 will provides basic, intensive and most updated information about the market for wood and wood products, advantages and disadvantages as well as opportunities and challenges.
This report contains six main parts: i) The status of afforestation, forest care and timber exploitation in 2008; ii) The import of wood and wood products iii) The wood export in 2008 and the first 8 months of 2009; iv) Factors affecting export of wood and wood products in Vietnam v) The world wood market; vi) Prospects for the wood market in 2009-2010.
“Vietnam’s wood industry in Q3 and outlook for 2009-2010” is intended to be a useful reference for policy makers, international organizations, donors and the business community, especially investors, financial funds, banks and securities companies in evaluating the production and trading activities of Vietnam’s wood industry. All of the information and data presented in the report are obtained from publicized information sources of domestic as well as international reputable research agencies such as the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, General Statistics Office, General Department of Vietnam Customs, Vietnam Timber and Forest Products Association, Foreign Agricultural Service/U.S. Department of Agriculture (FAS/USDA), International Monetary Fund (IMF), World Bank (WB), and so on.
