Pepper prices triple year-earlier period

The Vietnam Pepper Association reported that currently the export price of Vietnamese black pepper has risen to US$3,300 to 3,400 a tonne.
Last month the pepper price was US$2,800 a tonne. The pepper price in Vietnam has tripled against last year and reached its highest price for six years.

This year, many traders reduced the amount of pepper they exported due to the weather having an adverse effect on the harvest while at the same time the demand for pepper rapidly increased.

Vietnam's pepper output fell by 20%, However, the country has provided 60% of global supplies and has controlled the world pepper market, according to figures from the Vietnam Pepper Association.
