In this summer-autumn crop, although Tra Vinh’s farmers met weather and disease obstacle, they have finished harvesting 80,961 hectares of summer-autumn rice. The average yield reached 0.47 ton/ha, an increase of 0.04 ton/ha compared to the previous week. The profits of households are common from 6 million dong to 7 million dong per hectare. This result is to thank to the focus guide in interior field irrigation, seeding together and finished on direction of avoiding brown backed rice plant hopper, implementing the production model of “3 decrease 3 increase” on a large scale by new paddy varieties that resist disease.

Also in this moment, Tra Vinh’s farmers have seeded about 60,000 hectares of winter rice and autumn-winter rice, reaching 64.5% of plan. However, the disease is complex on paddy. At present, 10,000 hectares of winter paddy and autumn-winter paddy infested with brown backed rice plant hopper in the whole province. In order to limit the damage, Tra Vinh province guided seeding together in the direction of avoiding brown backed rice plant hopper. In addition, the provincial department of agriculture and rural development established 6 technique teams for preventing brown backed rice plant hopper and grassy stunt virus, which are responsible for following the disease on area and leading the farmers the effect preventing measures.

Rice – fish is stable production model and suitable to transferring production localities of Bac Lieu province. At present, the province has over 25 000 hectares cultivated on rice-fish model which bring high profit of this, 1 hectare bring profit of over 10 million dong, at the same time, paddy yield also reach quite high with 0.5 ton/ha. The great advantage of this model is to help paddy developing well, without disease and easy to apply paddy caring model on IPM measure.
