During the 2006 summer-autumn paddy crop and 2006-2007 winter-spring paddy crop, Vi Thuy district, Chau Thanh A district (Hau Giang province) and O Mon district (Can Tho City) are three localities that released the most successful program of “3 decrease 3 increase” in the Mekong River Delta. The used paddy variety is confirmed variety, ensured on sprout rate as well as cleanness, and treated before seeding. When seeding, the farmers used the economized musk machine, decreased to manure nitrogenous fertilizer, and sprayed flora protection chemicals on 4 -right method. As a result, the average paddy yield increased from 0.5 to 1.8 ton/ha (2006 summer-autumn crop) and from 0.3 to 1.0 ton/ha in 2006-2007 winter spring crop. Therefore, the income of the farmers in Vi Thuy increased 3,493,000 dong/ha, in O Mon 2,251,243 dong/ha, in Chau Thanh A 2,660,210 dong/ha. The whole Mekong River Delta seed each year 3.6 million ha of paddy. If applying well the program of “3 decrease 3 increase”, the income of the farmers will increase 8,000 billion dong.

During 3 last production crops, the PC 10 pure paddy variety was seeded successfully in Ninh Thuan. Over test seeding, the PC 10 paddy variety expressed many advantages like resisting brown backed rice plant hopper and rice grassy stunt virus. In addition, the PC 10 pure paddy variety blossom concentratively, can be seeded in the whole 3 crops of year, grown time is sort from 90 to 95 days, the average yield reached from 6 tons to 8 tons/ha. At present, the PC 10 paddy variety is being submitted for Assembly of science and technology, MARD to be admitted as national variety.
