Vietnam signed contracts to export 3.3 million tonnes of rice during the first four months of this year, which brought turnover of US$443 million, decreasing 19% in quantity and 9% in value year on year.
However, up to now, the total quantity of rice that has been exported is only 1.7 million tonnes.
According to the Vietnam Food Association, the quantity of export rice was low due in part to terminal handing charges that foreign shipping companies have charged Vietnamese exporters.
