The Viet Nam Coffee Culture Week 2007 kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on December 13, drawing representatives from 30 famous processing enterprises and retailers nationwide.

The week, hosted by the People Committee of Central Highlands Dak Lak province, features models of coffee farms and bean processing, talks on coffee and exhibitions and art programmes spotlighting the cultural identities of the Central Highlands region.

Visitors will have a chance to see a new record of Viet Nam – the biggest gate made of nearly three tonnes of coffee beans.

Viet Nam currently ranks second in the world in terms of coffee production and export. It annually ships abroad around 900,000 tonnes of coffee, fetching 1.5 billion USD. Half of the export volume is from the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak
