A conference on export was held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) in Ho Chi Minh City on October 9 to discuss measures to complete the task.
According to Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien, agencies, localities and enterprises should crank up exports of products with further export potential such as textiles and garments, footwear, plastic, electrical appliances, electronic and computer components, furniture, fine art and handicrafts, and aquatic products.
The MIT pledged to assist businesses in dealing with hurdles in order to intensify their export activities.
According to the MIT’s Import-Export Department, Viet Nam earned around US$35.2 billion in the first nine months this year, up 19.4 percent over last year.
The country plans to fetch US$58.6 billion in 2008, a 22 percent increase over 2007.
