Việt Nam đã trở thành thị trường XK hàng hóa lớn nhất của Quảng Tây. Năm 2006, kim ngạch XNK giữa Việt Nam và Quảng Tây đạt 1,47 tỉ USD, tăng 48,4%. Con số này chiếm 80% kim ngạch mậu dịch giữa Quảng Tây với các quốc gia thành viên Hiệp hội các nước Đông Nam Á (ASEAN) và 14,7% tổng kim ngạch thương mại Trung Quốc-Việt Nam.

Theo số liệu thống kê của Tổng cục Hải quan, trong năm 2006, cả nước xuất khẩu được 4,64 triệu tấn gạo với kim ngạch đạt 1,27 tỷ USD, giảm 11,56% về lượng và giảm 9,33% về trị giá so với năm 2005. Tới nay, Philippin vẫn là thị trường xuất khẩu gạo lớn nhất của nước ta.
