The WWF will provide the package to enable cacao, which is the key ingredient used to process cocoa, to be grown under a sustainable development model on 39 ha, in the commune of Phuoc Loc, from now until 2009.
The initiative is slated to provide training for 39 ethnic households in the commune on cacao farming techniques and will then dole out 600 cacao trees per ha and materials to the project participants.
The project uses a model of agriculture-forestry sustainable development model that ensures a stable income for local farmers while reducing pressures on forest management and biodiversity in the Cat Tien National Park buffer zone.
