The plan was announced at a conference to boost production, processing and preserving green food for cattle in Ba Vi, the northern province of Ha Tay on December 18.
According to the Husbandry Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the country now has over 11.5 million of cattle. However, due to a lack of planning work there are only 45,000 ha of meadow, providing only 7.6 percent of green food for cattle.
Addressing the conference, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat said the husbandry sector had a slow growth due to epidemics and the increase in food prices. To solve the problem, the minister asked the sector to adjust its strategy to focus on developing cattle.
