Four-Month Exports Hit US$1.8 Billion

Total retail and service revenue came to VND49.482 billion in the first four months of this year, up 30.5 percent against the same months of last year, said the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee.

The number of foreign visitors rose to 902,865 in these four months, 34 percent of what was projected for the year and 10 percent more than last year at this time.

Export revenue was at US$451.4 million for April, 6.6 percent above last year at that time, and US$1.8 billion for these four months, 6.2 percent higher than the same months of last year.

Industrial production hit VND100.859 trillion, a rise of 12.5 percent. Budget revenue came to VND24 trillion for these four months, 30.9 percent of what was projected for the year and 18.6 percent more than last year at the same time.

This May the city will draw-up sector and product development plans to the year 2010 with a vision to 2020. At the same time, city authorities will help districts changing the district's overall socioeconomic plan to 2020 to focus more on attracting investment, particularly foreign direct investment.
