Nguyen Ngoc Binh, the director of the Forestry Department and the director of TFF, said that the project is to tackle major problems such as diminishing forests, hunger and poverty in Tay Nguyen (the Central Highlands).
As a segment of the project, trees will be planted at a total cost of US$41 million to improve the livelihoods of forest-dependent people, reduce poverty and increase forest product sales in 60 communes of five provinces in Tay Nguyen and Phu Yen province. The project was launched in October 2006 and will be completed in December 2014.
