Post WTO Entry Opportunities for Vietnam Trading

To update market information and policies after Vietnam joined the WTO, the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI)’s HCM City Branch (VCCI HCM) cooperated with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Bureau in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Planning and Investment to organise a seminar on “opportunities for trade and commerce sector after Vietnam joined the WTO.”
Prominent attendants include Mr Pham Manh Dung, chief of Industrial and Commercial Legislation Department; Mr Vu Ba Phu, deputy director of the Vietnam Industrial and Commercial Investment Department; Mr Nguyen The Hung, deputy director of VCCI HCM, enterprises from Taiwan, Ho Chi Minh City and southern provinces.
 
Mr Vu Ba Phu said the Vietnamese Government pledged to open the service sector like import, export, distribution [for foreign firms] and outlined assistance policies to diversify business scopes. Besides, commercial and service companies should also understand Vietnam’s commitments after it joined the WTO, such as reserve rights, foreign access to shares of Vietnamese companies, retail market widening and consultancy service opening.
