All food producing establishments, firstly sauce producers, must register for quality verification and food hygiene and safety certification. The deadline for registration for quality certification is December 31 and it is June 30 for sauce producers. When the deadline comes, if producers don’t have a quality certificate, their business will be considered illegal.
The HCM City Health Department will take samples of all soya sauce producing units that don’t meet standards in 2006 and 2007 for testing again. If they continue to violate the standards for 3-MCPD, their products will be removed from the market and destroyed. The violating businesses will also be closed till they meet food hygiene and safety standards.
HCM City authorities also requested the Director of the local Health Department to quickly make public accurate information about the inspection of food quality, including 3-MCPD carcenigens in sauce products produced and sold in the city.
