Ostriches fatten up on northern Vietnam farm

An ostrich farm in the northern boarder province of Cao Bang has opened new doors for animal husbandry in the mountainous region as the ostriches gain some 10kg each every month.
The private-owned Hoa Binh Construction Enterprise has spent over dong 3.5 billion (US$215,849) on the ostrich farm, which is the province�s largest livestock breeder, employing 20 locals.
Director Tong Van Hoa said the farm�s 30 ostriches, supplied by a state-run poultry business, have grown fast, gaining an average of 10kg every month.
