Vietnam Distribution Network Opens
11 | 08 | 2007
To compete with multi-national corporations strong in finance, resources and management, four domestic distribution giants on May 14, 2007 formed a strategic alliance, VDA - Vietnam Distribution Network Development and Investment Joint-Stock Company, with equal 25 per cent shares
The four founding companies are Hanoi Trade Corporation (Hapro) with 25 supermarkets and shops in Hanoi, Saigon Trade Corporation (Satra) with large distribution network, Saigon Trading Cooperatives Association (Saigon Co-op), with leading retail shops in Vietnam, and Phu Thai Group.

VDA will become a leading logistics group of Vietnam. It will develop a chain of commercial centres and supermarkets with varied brands and standards, directing a professional, modern, practical and reliable distribution network. VDA not only creates a strong framework for the four corporations, but also reorganize domestic distribution and retail networks. Ms Nguyen Thi Hong Minh, VDA Director General, said that by 2008, investors and consumers will benefit from VDA services.

On the same day, at Melia hotel (Hanoi), a signing ceremony took place creating a strategic alliance between VDA, Vietnam Maritime Corporation (Vinalines), Vietnam Seafood Processing and Export Association (VASEP) and Vietnam Investment and Development Bank (BIDV).
