Tariffs on Imports from Laos Down 50 Percent
04 | 06 | 2007
Tariffs on Imports from Laos Down 50 Percent: The Ministry of Finance has recently made public the tariffs on imports from Laos.

The imports from Laos (specified on the tariff table attached to Decision 30/2007/QD-BTC) will be exempt from 50 percent of the special preferential import tariffs that conform to Vietnam’s implementation of CEPT (Common Effective Preferential Tariffs) for 2006-2013.

However, these imports do not include meat and post-slaughtering edible by-products (Cat. 0207 and 0407), rice and sugar (Cat. 1701) and internal-combustion engines (Cat. 8407).

In addition, motorized vehicles for cargo transportation such as vans, semi-vans and similar vehicles will be subject to a 50 percent decline in the import tariff applied to the same kinds of imports from other ASEAN countries. Parts and spare parts in Cat. 8711-8713 imported from Laos will apply this special preferential import tariff policy.
