The amount of pork transported to two wholesale markets in Ho Chi Minh City increased further 12 tons per day in 27th September, of which supplied to Hoc Mon market went up 4.37% and 1.74% to Binh Dien market. The amount of pork in those two wholesale markets rose 7.14% compared to 30th August’s week. After reducing further 1,000 dong per kilogram in two consecutive weeks, price of rump-pork in Hoc Mon market rises again at 57,000 VND per kilogram for 27th September’s week, 2,000 VND per kilogram higher than that in Binh Dien market.

The same as last week week’s, price of live hog continuously stays stable or reduces slightly in all markets this week. Prices of live hog in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City markets slightly drop by 250 dong per kilogram. Unlike live hog price, rump-pork price is likely to fluctuate contradictorily this week, up 1.24% in Can Tho and 1.59% in Ho Chi Minh City. It stays stable in Da Nang and reduces at 3.08% in Hanoi.

The price of beef rises at all four markets. It soars the most highly in Ho Chi Minh City, at 3.45%, then at 2.33% in Hanoi. Da Nang is the lowest beef increasing price market at 8.44%, while they go up 10.99%, 10.29% and 9.6% in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Can Tho respectively.

CP Vietnam Joint Stock Company’s construction project for processing meat will be conducted behind the schedule. Of which, construction of pork processing mill in the South and chicken one in Hanoi is to be operated by 2009 instead of 4th- Quarter-2008.

As many world prices of commodities are likely to decline, demands for domestic goods have not soared up, together with impacts on reducing prices of petroleum, essential goods such as meat and foodstuffs are likely to stay stable or fluctuate slightly in October.
