Although blue ear disease was put a control sucessful, raisers in Ho Chi Minh City are concerned about reappearance of the disease, which makes pork price continue to decrease. Thus, they sold out a mass of live-hog to avoid the disease and cutting a loss, which leads to a sharp increase of pork volume (at 20 ton per day) in 2 wholesale markets of Ho Chi Minh City in 2nd week of October. Amount of pork transported to Binh Dien market increased nearly 10% while amount of pork transported to Hoc Mon market decreases only 1.88%.

Amount of pork transported to Binh Dien market increased nearly 10% while amount of pork transported to Hoc Mon market decreases only 1.88%. Thus, total amount of pork transported to these markets are up 5.26% to 400 tons per day. Amount of pork transported to Binh Dien increases sharply, which pulls down wholesale price of rump-pork to 53,000 VND per kg, a decrease of 2,000 VND per kg. Whereas, at 57 VND per kg, pork prices in Hoc Mon market continue to remain steady.

Live hog prices in 4 key markets decrease more sharply compared to last week. This week, live-hog prices decrease 7.25% to 32,000 VND in Hanoi and 1,250 VND per kg in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City. Live-hog prices in Can Tho continue to be down 750 VND per kg to 32,500 VND per kg. Thus, live-hog prices this week in Hanoi is down 10.36%, more 8% in Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City and 5.78% in Can Tho.

Rump-pork price this week continues to decline in 4 key markets after remaining steady last week. Rump-pork price dereases at highest level in Hanoi, an decrease of 3,000 VND per kg (-4.76%). At a decrease of 1000 VND per kg, the price decreases to 60,000 VND per kg in Can Tho and 61,000 VND per kg in Da Nang. This week, rump-pork price in Ho Chi Minh City is down 2,000 VND per kg to 62,000 VND per kg.

Leg beef price continues to decrease sharply in all markets. The price are down 6.42% (a decrease of 7,000 VND per kg) in Can Tho, down 5.49% (a decrease of 6,500 VND per kg) in Ho Chi Minh City, down 4.85% (a decrease of 5,500 VND per kg) in Da Nang. Whereas, the price this week only declines 2,500 VND per kg (at 2.23%) in Hanoi. The price decreases sharply this week so the price only increases 0.87% in Can Tho, 1.31% in Da Nang, 3.095 in Ho Chi Minh City and 4.69% in Hanoi compared to first 9 months.

At 95,000 VND per kg, processed chicken prices continue to remain steady in Hanoi and Lam Dong. Prices of processed industrial chicken remain unchanged at 52.500 VND per kg in Hanoi but decrease to 42,000 VND per kg (a decrease of 3,000 VND per kg) in Lam Dong.

Indian soybean meal price this week delivered in Bedi/Kandla port remains steady in the range of 280 – 285 USD per ton. This week, the price is down more 40% compared to the price level of 500 USD per ton in midle July; corn price in Chicago market be down to 400-420 Uscent per bushel, an decrease of 300 Uscent per bushel. Opposite to input ingredient price movement for livestock feed production, domestic livestock feed prices still stay at high level, which does not only make raisers with small scale but also large farms stop raising due to fear of loss.
