PC makers tighten Microsoft relations
03 | 08 | 2007
Viet Nam’s leading PC makers Computer Manufacturing and Service (CMS) and FPT Elead on March 5 announced they have earned the title original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) by Microsoft.
The companies are the first in Viet Nam to achieve named account statues by the world's largest software developer.

As named accounts, CMS and FPT Elead will benefit from direct licences to pre-install Windows Vista, Office 2007 as well as other Microsoft software.

" We selected CMS and FPT to be our OEM named accounts because they are the two biggest players in Viet Nam, which hold about 15 percent of the local PC market," says Microsoft country manager Christropher Descriac.

There are 34 firms in the Asia Pacific and 320 world-wide that have received the title.

"The new membership of CMS and FPT to our programme is evidence of both the incredible growth trajectory of the Viet Nam PC market and of these leading local firms," says Jeff Donosky, OEM director of Microsoft's Asia-Pacific division.

OEM account names have access to resources and support needed to stand out in the marketplace, including the Partner Knowledge Base and priority listing in Microsoft directories, according to executives.

CMS and FPT Elead are subsidiaries of much larger organisations, namely the CMS Group and blue chip Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology, repectively.

FPT Information System (FPT-IS), another FPT subsidiary, on March 5 also signed a contract with SAP Asia Pacific to supply integrated network software solutions in Viet Nam
