Applying New Import-Export Tariffs
02 | 06 | 2007
The Ministry of Finance says that the import tariffs on 1,146 of all 1,246 categories will be changed. The ceiling tariffs on these 1,146 categories will be lowered, while at the same time the import tariffs on other categories that are applying lower import tariffs than the existing ones will also be lowered.
The Ministry of Finance has proposed that the Government ask the National Assembly Standing Committee to lower the floor import tariffs on 199 categories to match the itinerary of import tariff reduction that Vietnam has committed to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
To limit raw exports and encourage the use of recycled materials, the Ministry of Finance has also proposed that the Government maintain the export tariffs that are applied to most categories on the New Preferential Export Tariff Table.
